Kevin Muller
Community Mobile Nurse, Kenya National Waste Pickers Welfare Association
Kevin Muller is a pioneering community mobile nurse based in Nairobi, Kenya, dedicated to improving healthcare access for waste pickers living in informal settlements like Kibera. Notably, Kevin is one of the few healthcare professionals globally to utilize an electric unicycle for mobile medical delivery, allowing him to navigate densely populated areas swiftly. He provides vital onsite services—including first aid, consistent wound care, blood pressure screenings, health education, deworming, and psychosocial support—while facilitating referrals for serious medical cases.
Through these innovative, low-cost, and community-centered interventions, Kevin bridges the gap between public health systems and the informal waste sector. He is a fierce advocate for the dignity, occupational safety, and healthcare rights of waste pickers, championing their critical role in the circular economy and environmental sustainability. Through grassroots outreach, Kevin continues to build scalable, practical models for inclusive human capital development across Africa’s informal sector.
