Dr. Rebecca Yandam is a leading advocate for sustainable waste management and circular economy advancement in Africa. As the Learning and Development Lead of the ISWA Africa Regional Chapter, she drives professional capacity building, regional collaboration, and knowledge exchange to strengthen technical expertise and innovation across Africa’s waste sector.
She also serves as the Executive Secretary of the Solid Waste Association of Ghana (SWAGH), the Ghana National Member of ISWA, and plays a pivotal role within the Jospong Group of Companies, where she leads Research, Innovation and Development at Zoomlion Ghana Limited and supports International Business Development for the Group. In addition, Dr. Yandam is the Business Development Manager and National Training Coordinator at National Material Recovery Limited (NAMARCO), where she champions recyclables recovery, circular business models, and workforce training initiatives.
With over 16 years of professional experience in waste management operations, research, and policy development, she has spearheaded numerous projects promoting sustainable waste recovery, public–private partnerships, and data-driven environmental decision-making.
Dr. Yandam holds a PhD in Environmental Science from the University of Ghana, as well as BSc and MSc degrees in Integrated Development Studies and Development Management from the University for Development Studies. She further holds certifications in Wasteology: Urban Mining Business with Recycling (ASEAN Institute of Recycling), Leadership and Strategy (Institute of Leadership and Strategy), Sustainable Reverse Logistics (CARISCA), and Monitoring and Evaluation (Vantage Africa School of Leadership).
Her guiding philosophy—“Collaborate to Innovate for Sustainability”—reflects her enduring commitment to knowledge-driven development, regional integration, and environmental resilience in Africa’s waste and resource management landscape.
